Why you don't need big data: the Taleb's barbell in the AI world

The main narrative in the AI world today is data-centric - the more data you have, the better it is for your company financially (in the worst case you can always sell the data). Today AI is a logical strategic investment, so why don't we apply investment principles to it? Celebrated Taleb's barbell states that we should invest only in assets with low risk and almost-promised returns, or in extremely risky assets that promise even more returns. Nothing else in the middle! In this talk, I want to present a system for the evaluation of AI projects on a similar scale. We will study extremely risky deep tech startups, as well as commoditized cloud, AI tools, and will review that "middle" part that you have to avoid in any case. The talk will be interesting for key decision-makers: AI investors, product and R&D managers.
